Monroe Community College, the largest community college in Upstate New York in terms of annual enrollment, offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs and serves more than 37,000 students each year. MCC facilities include its suburban Brighton Campus; Damon City Campus in downtown Rochester; Applied Technologies Center; Public Safety Training Center; and four suburban extension sites.
One of 64 State University of New York (SUNY) colleges and a board member with the League for Innovation in the Community College, MCC partners with colleges across the country and with local school districts and four-year institutions to meet its mission and the needs of its community. It is the college of choice for recent Monroe County high school graduates; 27 percent of Class of 2009 high school graduates enrolled at MCC.
The college also partners with local businesses, workforce development boards, government and industries to help them meet their needs for a trained workforce.
Among the college's collaborations with Monroe County is the “Monroe Manufactures Jobs” program to better meet the high demands of the local manufacturing industry. The program connects MCC graduates in the Precision Machining and Optical Fabrication programs with local manufacturing companies and offer both the employee and employer a $1,500 bonus if the employee works for the company for one full year.
The majority of MCC career and certificate program graduates remain in Greater Rochester, where they form the backbone of this community and make a difference to its residents every day. As the primary educator of the local workforce, MCC educates the vast majority of the community’s first responders, nurses, radiologic technicians, hospitality professionals and human service professionals.
