Since its establishment in 1836, Alfred University¹s reputation for academic excellence has grown to encompass commitment to regional growth and development. Comprised of four colleges ­ Art & Design, Business, Engineering, and Liberal Arts & Sciences ­ Alfred University annually enrolls 2000 undergraduate and nearly 400 graduate students in 54 bachelors programs, 12 masters programs, and three doctoral programs. Long renowned for art and engineering, the University is emerging as a key player in promoting regional economic growth and attracting high-tech businesses to New York State. The Advanced Research Center in Photonics, a NYSTAR Advanced Research Center; the Biomaterials Industrial Outreach Services Center, a Gen*NY*sis project; the Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology; and the NSF Center for Glass Research support these industry-university linkages. The University partners with Corning, Incorporated in the Ceramic Corridor Innovation Centers.
